Dining out has significantly grown in popularity, to the point that Americans now spend more money dining out than on groceries. Consumers have more of an impact than ever before while dining out, and luckily there are plenty of ways to dine green.
The GRA has created a list of some Green Resolutions that consumers can implement in 2017. What is your green resolution for the year? We’d love to hear! Tag #DineGreen17 to be featured on our social media.
Some ideas for you:
Dine at a Certified Green Restaurant®
Dine at restaurants that are accessible by public transportation
Order a vegetarian dish
Bring your own reusable take-out containers, straws, mugs, etc.
Order only what you can eat
Choose dishes with local and/or organic ingredients
Tell your favorite restaurant about the GRA
Order dishes that contain sustainable seafood (don’t know what seafood is sustainable? Check here: https://www.seafoodwatch.org)
At take-out or fast casual restaurants, make sure to place your leftovers and disposables in the proper bin (recycling, composting, trash)
Don’t buy bottled water
Bring your own bag and containers for leftovers
Use hand dryers in restrooms instead of paper towels
We hope you have a wonderful and green New Year! Have any other ideas? Feel free to share in the comments section below. Remember to tag your Green Resolution social media posts with #DineGreen17.
