Certified Green Product Spotlight: PlateScrape™

The average restaurant uses 300,000 gallons of water a year, which is equivalent to 30 backyard swimming pools. As droughts continue to devastate ecosystems all over the world, it’s more important than ever to find ways to save water at your restaurant.

So where is all that water getting used? Check out the EPA graphic below to see the ways a typical restaurant is using water.

As you can see, over 50% of the water used in a typical restaurant is in the kitchen/dishwashing. The Green Restaurant Association recently certified an innovative product called PlateScrape™. This Certified Green Product can be used instead of a pre-rinse spray valve, but it consumes much less water and energy, which can help save you thousands of dollars. At its most efficient, it can use up to 93% less water than the average pre-rinse spray valve.

PlateScrape™ recently won the Most Innovative Product in our first ever Green Restaurant Awards. To find out how this product works, watch here. PlateScrape™ can earn your restaurant 15.5 GreenPoints™. You can learn more at platescrape.com.
