Manhattan Green Dining Destination™ Gains Three New Locations

We are excited to announce that five new locations have joined the Flatiron Nomad Green Dining Destination™ in Manhattan. Bombay Sandwich Co is joining Certified Green Restaurants® Scarpetta, Barcade New York, Honeybrains, Blackbarn Restaurant, Rezdora-Osteria Emiliana, and Hawksmoor as a Certified Green Restaurant®. On their way to certification are American Cut Steakhouse, Tarallucci e Vino, and two others. The GRA is partnering with Madison Square Park Conservancy and the Flatiron/Nomad Partnership to create the Green Dining Destination™ once there are 20 Certified Green Restaurants® in the Flatiron/NoMad neighborhood. With 11 restaurants in neighborhood, we are now over halfway to our goal.

John Meadow of LDV Hospitality and owner of Certified Green Restaurant® Scarpetta believes the most critical piece of reaching this goal is to make sustainability action bite-sized. “Many people believe that sustainability and environmental issues are too big for them, personally, to make an impact, so they do nothing. What we hope to educate the industry on is that taking small steps does help, and the more restaurants taking small steps is what we need to create big change.”

Becoming a Certified Green Restaurant® allows restaurants to make significant changes by reducing the barriers many restaurants face when implementing their sustainability practices. The Green Restaurant Association helps restaurants make the necessary environmental changes through their consulting services and certifies them as Certified Green Restaurants®.
