San Diego has officially passed legislation to ban polystyrene foam going into effect in April. Starting April 1st, polystyrene foam food containers, coolers, and pool toys will no longer be allowed to be sold by retail stores or used by residents in city parks and beaches. The ban also requires restaurants and delivery services to only provide plastic straws and utensils upon customer request. Joining 130 other California cities in banning the products, such as San Francisco, San Diego will likely be followed by Los Angeles in December.
